Rearcross U-10's played host to Holycross 'B' in this floodlit league fixture in Rearcross last Friday evening. Rearcross took the lead after three minutes when Cillian Kennedy's corner kick was eventually scrambled to over the line by a luckless Holycross defender, Colm Lenihan made it two nil on ten minutes after driving to the net following a one on one with the visiting custodian. Rearcross keeper Sean Malone made a fine save at the near post three minutes later, Holycross upped the ante towards the end of the half and it took a refex action from Sean Malone on the stroke of half time to preserve the Rearcross advantage. Sean Malone was in the action again seconds in to the second half after blocking an angled shot from the right. Rearcross took over after this and Cathal Kennedy stretched the lead to three with as many minutes gone in the half with a good effort from outside the box. Cian O'Toole followed up four minutes later with a smashing strike from distance. Full credit to a Holycross side that kept battling throughout, Saoirse Teer pulled a goal back after breaking through the centre to drill a low effort inside the post. It was 5-1 to Rearcross when Eoin Sheldon chipped to the net seven minutes from time. Paul Nolan then got on the score sheet for Rearcross with a well struck effort. Cathal Kennedy grabbed his second of the outing after knocking over the line from close range; Stephen Rochford completed the scoring for the home side with a well taken goal.
